David E. Gilbert, President & CEO, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission (GCSC), Destination Cleveland (formerly Positively Cleveland) and the 2016 RNC Host Committee (Republican National Convention).

The goal of the GCSC is to make Greater Cleveland the nation’s foremost destination for amateur sporting events and activities. Since 2000, the Sports Commission has had significant success by attracting and creating more than 160 events to the Greater Cleveland area including the NCAA Women’s Final Four, National Senior Games, NBC Gravity Games, U.S. Figure Skating Championships, U.S. Gymnastics Championships, International Children’s Games, McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Game, and U.S. Olympic Trials Box-Offs. These events have contributed to more than $410 million in local economic activity.

Destination Cleveland (formerly Positively Cleveland) is the convention and visitors bureau (CVB) for Greater Cleveland. With the vision of showcasing Greater Cleveland as a highly-preferred and vibrant visitor destination, Destination Cleveland is charged with driving economic impact and stimulating community vitality through leisure and business travel. In 2013, the number of visitors to Cuyahoga County increased to 16.2 million, a nearly 4 percent over the prior year, contributing more than $7.4 billion to the local economy. As the organization continues to attract more visitors and secure high profile events such as the 2016 Republican National Convention and the 2017 American Bus Association Conference, visitation numbers are expected to continuously increase as time goes on.

The 2016 RNC Host Committee will be overseeing all fundraising, operations, communications and local programming for the 2016 National Republican Convention in Cleveland.
