Brent Nelson

In his twenty (20) plus years within the sports tourism industry, Brent has been an active team member in the creation of a true regional partnership at the Central Florida Sports Commission which currently serves five (5) governments within the Orlando area. In his role as Senior Vice President, Business Development, he is charged with the attraction and retention of key relationships within the overall sports marketplace which has in return produced over 1,300 new events being staged in Central Florida sports venues and hotels. More importantly, this new activity has created over $1 billion of new direct spending in Central Florida.

He has also participated in the relocation of three (3) major sports related businesses to Central Florida, which has helped to create a significant number of high wage jobs, and new public and private facilities for the region. A short list of his recent accomplishments include leading the charge to bring WrestleMania XXIV and the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament to Orlando in 2014 and 2017, along with the American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2016 and 2018 and Copa America Centenario in 2016.

Additionally, he has also served on several Local Organizing Committees tied to recent marquee events staged in Central Florida, and has volunteered on the Connect Sports Marketplace Advisory Board in 2014 and 2015. His charitable contributions within the Central Florida community include his past involvement with New Hope For Kids and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
