2018 Symposium

Sport Tourism Executive of the Year

This award honors the sport tourism CEO who demonstrates only the highest levels of achievement, personal conduct and professionalism in the sport tourism industry. The recipient demonstrates exceptional qualities of leadership in his or her own organizations, and displays a deep commitment to the advancement of the sport tourism industry as a whole. Individuals from organizations in the Active member category are eligible to apply. Submissions are reviewed by a judging panel comprised of NASC members and require a majority vote by judges to be awarded.

Submission Guidelines

The NASC Awards Committee invites you to submit nominations for the 2017 NASC Member Awards on behalf of your organization.

Award recipients will be selected on the basis of exemplary performance and merit, and not all awards may be awarded in a given year. Winners will be announced the Opening Ceremonies and Member Awards Breakfast at the 25th annual NASC Sports Event Symposium in Sacramento, CA on March 28, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. PT. Nominations and all supplemental materials are due by Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11:59pm ET.

In order for your entry to be considered, please address each of the judging criteria and clearly label each section of your entry according to the judging criteria outlined below.

Please include the following in your 800-word description:

  • Written statement detailing your organization’s mission, objectives and goals for current year. (10 pts)
  • Specific examples that show how you helped your organization achieve or exceed these goals.  Examples of the impact that your organization’s activities have had on the sport tourism industry or your community (i.e. economic impact, hotel occupancy, growth in membership, etc.). (20 pts)
  • Describe how you made a humanitarian impact during this calendar year (either as part of your organization or individually).  Nominees should exhibit humanitarian qualities such as honesty, integrity, responsibility, compassion, and courage, and an exemplary commitment of time and energy serving others or towards the event(s). (20 pts)
  • Describe ways that you aided your organization to gain more exposure or engagement.  Examples can include media or public relations, acquisition of new sponsors or financial partners, gaining new partners (rights holders or local sports events hosts). (20 pts)
  • Include examples of support from community or industry leaders, strategic partners and/or organizations affected by your activities.  Give examples on how the community was involved and/or show a rally of support or involvement. (20 pts)
  • Contributions to NASC (i.e. board service, committee participation, CSEE certification, support of NASC’s mission, outreach, etc.). (10 pts)
