Robert (Bob) Murdock is the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau’s (CTCSB) President, Director of Sports Marketing and the Director of National Accounts for the S.M.E.R.F. (Social, Military Education, Religious & Fraternal) and the Diversity Group markets. His efforts and the partnerships he has nurtured have resulted in the State securing the 2017 and 2022 USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships, 2017 US Lacrosse National Championships, 2018 and 2022 USA BMX Eastern Nationals, 2019 NCAA DI Men’s Basketball 1st and 2nd Round and 2021 and 2022 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championships. He recently worked with the Connecticut Boxing Commission to pass legislation making Connecticut more viable for boxing and MMA events. Murdock joined the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau in September 2014 from seven years as Director of Sales at Destination Worcester (Mass.), where he was responsible for promoting and selling the City and its region as a destination for meetings and events. Before that position, he was Director of Administration for the Massachusetts Sports Partnership and was the Event & Sales Manager/Director of Business Operations for a variety of Boston-area organizations that included professional athletes’ foundations, promotional tours, and a World Championship. He currently serves as Treasurer for the New England Society of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (NESCVB), the Treasurer for the Fairfield County Sports Commission, Executive Committee Member for the Nutmeg State Games, and is a Board Member for the Connecticut Lodging Association. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Murdock was one of only 108 Americans invited to try out for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Team in 1988 and finished 21st in the trials and has a Personal Best of 2:17:45. Murdock received both his master’s degree and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Penn., and also holds a master’s degree, majoring in Sports Management, from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.
