City hits home run - Softball tourney boosts local economy
A national softball tournament at the beginning of August brought more than $1 million into the North Platte economy. According to the North Platte Convention and Visitors Bureau, direct spending during the 2012 American Softball Association Class A 16U Northern National Softball Tournament was $1,398,695. That accounts for $62,717 in local tax revenue, the bureau said. The visitors bureau uses a formula provided by the National Association of Sports Commissions.
