CSEE SPRING 2012 MODULE

Monday, April 16, 2012 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm
In conjunction with 2012 NASC Sports Event Symposium

The first hour of the module will feature special guest Coach Paul Assaiante, head Squash coach at Trinity College for 18 years, and author of "Run to the Roar".  The book, and Coach Assaiante's message, will focus on overcoming great adversity to understand the most effective ways to lead, develop teamwork and sustain growth in a high-pressured environment.

Check out a tribute the 13 consecutive national championships for Trinty Squash.

The second part of the module, Sponsorship Development and Sales, is being developed specifically for the National Association of Sports Commissions by Ohio University’s Sports Administration Program, the nation’s leading source for sports professionals. Presenters will be Jim Kahler and A. J. Maestas, the same persons who teach the course at Ohio University. Jim is Executive Director of the Center for Sports Administration at Ohio University and A. J. is with Navigate Marketing of Chicago, Illinois. Navigate specializes in research, valuation, and sponsorship return on investment.

Watch a Preview of the Spring Module!

The module will be based upon content from a graduate level course in Sponsorships in Sports. Anticipated learning outcomes will include an understanding of the importance of sports sponsorships, the ability to understand what motivates a sponsor, reasons why sponsorships succeed and fail, ways to value a sponsorship, an understanding of how sponsorships can be activated, and considerations regarding a return on investment for each sponsor.

The content will include a substantial number of case histories and references to national and regional sponsorship programs. Each attendee will be provided with digital copy of the International Events Group’s (IEG) Guide to Sponsorship. You will be asked to become familiar with the contents of IEG’s report prior to Hartford.  Once on-site in Hartford, each attendee will also then receive a hard copy of the book.

The overall purpose of the module is to provide information crucial to assisting in an understanding of the world of sponsorships and how it applies to the sports event industry.

At the conclusion of the three hour session a brief quiz will be administrated using multiple choice and true and false questions to assist each participant in learning how much information was retained.
